We are Richard and Colita Shykes and we are missionaries
|
Our sole purpose is to share the Gospel and “make Disciples”. The success of this is only really seen, once those who become “disciples”, are making their own disciples. Only a disciple can make a disciple – there is no other way it can be done.
The above statement is why success cannot really be measured by numbers alone.
Our Vision and Purpose
OUR VISION IS EVANGELISM WITH A RESPONSIBILITY TO...
WIN A PERSON TO JESUS CHRIST Mark 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Matthew 24:14 And this GOSPEL of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
DISCIPLE A PERSON IN JESUS CHRIST Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"
SEND A PERSON FOR JESUS CHRIST Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational fellowship, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the body of Christ. We believe that the only true basis of Christian fellowship is His (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.
Our Purpose
Upward
1) The Exaltation of God: to have a high view of who God is.
Psalm 107:32, "Let them exalt Him also in the congregation of the people..."
Those who have been forgiven by the Lord - who have never undergone the cleansing touch of Jesus and the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit - really have no clue as to what is taking place when His people truly worship Him. Worship is the response of a thankful heart, a heart that knows, by experience, the grace and goodness of God.
As we worship our heavenly Father, dwell on His attributes: he is Almighty; Compassionate; Faithful; Good; Holy; Patient; Pure; Righteous; Trustworthy; Wise; and so much more...
Inwards
2) Edification of the Body:
2 Corinthians 12:19, "We do all things, beloved, for your edification."
A] To have a high view of the Body of Christ; we really do need each other, and we really do need to love one another, for that is a mark of a disciple of Christ. Being here should demonstrate that being committed to this group of believers is a top priority in our lives.
B] Edification means to build up the church members. Even to become more equipped to carry on the work of the Lord has for each of us. We should be participants, not spectators.
Outwards
3) Evangelism of the lost: to have a correct view of the fallen condition of mankind and to have a compassionate heart for them and their salvation.
Mark 16:15, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Everyone needs Jesus. Pray that the Holy Spirit moves upon the hearts of people as we gather, showing them their need for Christ and to genuinely turn from their sins to the abundant life in Jesus!
Statement Of Faith
WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible,
authoritative, inerrant, all sufficient Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:21).
WE BELIEVE there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30).
WE BELIEVE in the deity of Christ (John 10:33);
His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:34-35);
His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26);
His miracles (John 2:11);
His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9); His resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4);
His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19);
His personal return to earth in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11-16).
WE BELIEVE in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature,
and that all are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ,
and that only by God's grace, through faith alone, are we saved (John 3:!6-19, 5:24, Romans 3:23, 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:5).
WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of the life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (John 5:28-29).
WE BELIEVE in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-28).
WE BELIEVE in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life (Romans 8:13-14, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30, 5:18).
The above statement is why success cannot really be measured by numbers alone.
